On a beautiful and sunny September day, Laura and Scott said “I do” at their American Swedish Historical Museum wedding. They had a lovely outdoor ceremony followed by a sunset garden cocktail hour. Their reception took place in a tent on the American Swedish Historical Museum’s property with Jeffery Miller as the caterer and florist. Everything about this charming wedding was dreamy and romantic.
The American Swedish Historical Museum is the oldest Swedish-American museum in the United States and was founded in 1926. This makes it the perfect location for a grand wedding. There are several different locations around the property for weddings, and as an added bonus they work with an exclusive caterer to make sure your food and service are top of the line!
If you know me, you know I love flatlays. I have a whole section of my office dedicated to flatlay accessories. For Laura and Scott, I got creative with some thread and a gorgeous tray. I love trying to use accessories that add to the aesthetic of the couple’s invitation suite, without outshining it.
Laura got ready in the home she grew up in while Scott got ready at the stunning Kimpton Hotel Monaco. One thing I loved about Laura is that instead of a “traditional” wedding hairstyle she decided on a ponytail! It was the perfect hairstyle for her and I would love to see more brides do it in the future.
Most first looks involve the bride tapping the groom on the shoulder so he knows to turn around. Laura decided instead she was going to call out Scott’s name and have him turn around. Her reasoning for this was so that when he turned around he saw her whole look. It was such a special moment and it was fun having Scott run over to give her a hug!
Laura and Scott had the perfect day for their outdoor ceremony. American Swedish Historical Museum weddings offer such an airy and romantic backdrop. Which is one of the many reasons why I love photographing there! What made it even sweeter was the amount of emotion their guests had. I love getting to capture those candid moments for my couples to see after the fact.
I always love seeing what couples choose for their centerpieces and this wedding did not disappoint. Laura and Scott’s similar style and personality shone through in their arrangements. They chose gorgeous seasonal florals with candles scattered around.
It’s always fun when the couple does a sparkler send off. Some couples choose to have just their wedding party involved, while others choose to have all their guests join in on the fun. Laura and Scott opted for a more intimate send off with just their wedding party.
